Why I Want To Be a Nurse Essay

Why I Want To Be A Nurse

Example #1 – 500 Word Essay On Why I Want To Be A Nurse

I was born and raised in a small, under serviced community in Northern, Ontario called Muskoka. As a child I always had an interest in health care. Whether I was reading the oral pathology books of my fathers (a local oral surgeon) or playing doctor with my dolls and my fisher price doctor kit, I was always drawn to medicine and its ability to help people.

During my early years in Muskoka, I was always encouraged to take a strong interest in the sciences, arts, and the natural world. I not only learned about my environment from living on the “land” but I also spent a substantial part of my life living on a boat on the “water”. Living aboard and sailing on the water, I found, was actually one of the best classrooms I could have experienced. It truly teaches one to see and view all your everyday experiences from a whole different perspective. It taught me the value of being completely self-sufficient and required me to rely on my own decision-making abilities.

It also taught me to live with total respect for the living environment and wildlife around me on both a local and global level. I have learned how fragile and threatened our environment has become. I came to realize that our lives are connected, in every way, to all the elements that make up our planet.

Being cognizant of the fragile environment that we live in and how that in turn effects of everyday wellbeing, made me realize the importance of being fully aware of context when dealing with individual problems. This was especially emphasized as I grew older and became aware of my mother’s mental health problems.

It was not enough just to pathologize my mother as mentally ill; in order to truly understand the nature of her problems and to best help her “feel better” again, the environmental and social contexts that shaped her life needed to be taken into consideration. I believe my ability to look at things from this vantage point and to take context into consideration will greatly assist me in…

Example #2

I know I will scrape through in being a nurse. When I was looking into career options, nursing attracted my attention for a variety of reasons. You could go anywhere, work with adults, children, in public health, prisons, physicians offices, schools, factories, and were only limited by your level of education, I found that nursing could be whatever I would want to make it.

People need nurses in all aspects of life and if I were to ever feel “expended out” in one area, I could educate myself in a variety of ways to expand into another. Or if I needed to move to another state, I could transfer and easily find my niche there. The sensation that you feel when you know you have accomplished your goal to aid an individual is priceless

Also, nursing is a respected profession. People not only need nurses, but they also look up to them for support and direction. I think this is the best career move I would ever make. Being a nurse is not just an occupation; it’s more like a commitment to the profession of nursing. Nursing is a profession filled with challenges starting with an intense preparatory education program, which leads to physically strenuous work schedules and mentally demanding clinical decision-making.

The potential is endless in this field, from specialty areas to the general population, and from newborns through geriatrics. Nursing is probably the most personally rewarding job there is. For the people I will care for, I will see myself making a difference, whether it is bringing physical, emotional, or spiritual comfort. Knowing the fact that you can help or offer your help without hesitation is very encouraging.

Nursing is not just a respected profession, for me, it is also my way to a successful future. It is my path into establishing a stable financial brace for my descendants, and most of all to prove to my dad that I can be successful in every aspect of my life without his aid.

Example #3

The field of nursing has long interested me because I find myself compassionate about providing care to sick people. I think that the field of nursing may serve as a way for me to help individuals especially during their most difficult times such as illness and accidents. I am aware that the training required to become a nurse is challenging. I am still willing to undergo such challenging training in order to enhance my greatest capabilities as a nurse.

I am excited about learning psychological concepts that will be later applied as I interact with different kinds of patients during my nursing profession. I would like to be a nurse because this is the best image I can see myself performing in the near future.

Nurses are essential in every healthcare facility. They serve an important role by providing assistance and technical activities that will facilitate healthcare management of a patient. I am aware that there is a shortage of nurses in the world, mostly due to the increase in the human population all over the world. I am also very concerned about the need for better healthcare programs for the elderly since they urgently need proper care during their last valuable years on this Earth. I am highly driven to become a nurse that is capable of working in nursing homes, doctors ‘ clinics, hospitals or even as a medic nurse.

It is definitely thrilling to foresee that I may play a crucial role in saving lives, as well as providing a key role in preventing disease and complications among individuals under my care. Nurses function as essential members of a healthcare program, and I would like to see myself sharing my capabilities for the good of mankind, even at its simplest level of care.

I would also want to be a nurse so that I could educate patients on how to manage their sick family members at home.

Example #4

I like to help and nurture people back to health, so why not join a profession which consists of that? Nursing goes along well with what I’m best at, it might be the ideal profession for me. Where I can enjoy helping people and looking after them to make them feel better. If they are ill, I want to help figure out what is causing them to feel that way or what the signs are of the possible health problems.

I’m also an extremely social individual and can talk with anybody, which is something required if you wish to end up being a nurse. However, what does it take? Will the money spent going to school be repaid or more by the profession I have chosen? Well, we’re about to find out!

Prior to you choose what career to choose for life, you require to take a look at whatever. Where to go, what school has the best programs, would it be better to get a degree, what advantages it has for family matters, just how much it pays, can it support the lifestyle you’re trying to find in life, and just how much time you can leave.

There are numerous more but how can you believe through all of them in such a brief amount of time? Even two to three years won’t be good enough to think of all the concerns. But what I am going to do is respond to the most crucial concerns that you must consider in the period of time leading up to the time you need to pick the profession you will be doing for the rest of your life or for a majority of your life.

Among the most important questions, you need to think about would be, what do you delight in to do the most in your life? If you think about being a nurse as one of the possibilities you might be delighted to provide for fifty years or two, then select it. I have actually read several posts online and they all talk about how most nurses want that they never ever entered into that profession in the very first place.

Though it does have flexible hours and household-friendly time off, you have to continuously be on your feet running around all over the location, keep an eye on many doctors’ patients and paperwork, and work really long hours maybe even graveyard shifts. But some say, just how much you delight in being a registered nurse is your attitude towards all the rush and stress. A lot enjoy their tasks and a lot don’t enjoy it also. All of it depends upon your outlook on the task.

You must also consider where you want to go. Find out where the best place to go would be, and who has the greatest nursing programs. If you can afford a really good college then go there, but if you are working on a low income and have a family and house to take care of then it may not be the best idea to go somewhere out of your budget. Also, consider whether you want to go out of state or stay close to home?

Some colleges and universities that are considered to have the best nursing programs in the country, as of 2011, are Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Duke University. They are most selective, meaning they are very hard schools to get into. The top schools in Utah that have the best nursing programs are the University of Utah, Westminster College, and Western Governors University. They all are located in Salt Lake City, 4-year program schools, and offer Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in nursing.

Back in 2011, the average salary of a registered nurse was $65,950 annually and the average hourly wage was $34.71. There are many opportunities and advancements you can take advantage of from being a nurse or going to nursing school. You could become a doctor, a nurse practitioner, a pediatrician, and a lot more. Some nurses may start their career off as a hospital nurse, but when they are there long enough and have the experience, they can be promoted to assistant unit manager or even head nurse.

For those nurses who want to go back to school to get a Master’s or a Doctorate’s degree to have even greater opportunities. Such as nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, or nurse anesthetists. Experts are saying that the job opportunities for nurses will nearly double the expected average rate for all occupations between the years of 2011 and 2020. This is expected because the medical industry is expanding quickly and the demand for medical personnel will be exceptionally high.

Next, you want to consider what nurses do on an average day at work. They go around feeding the patients, checking the patients to see how they are doing, be a friend to them and their families, etc. An average nurse’s day is consisted of recording a patient’s history and symptoms on their medical charts, discuss their patients with other nurses and doctors, change the dressings on the wounds so they don’t get infected, observe the patients see if they are progressing in health or declining, give them their medications, and talk with their families to discuss what is happening or what is expected. Let’s go a step further, think about the average day of an ER nurse. Their days must be so hectic. I’ve gone to the ER a couple of times and what I see there amazes me.

There are numerous crazy stories from ER nurses and doctors. For example, one man came in saying he has abdominal pain and he had a rash on his stomach. When they administered an abdominal exam, they discovered a turkey sandwich that has been there for over a month. Never underestimate a day in the life of a nurse. Learning about nursing, what it takes to become one, what their average day is like, and what to expect for nursing has been informational.

There are numerous sources that give information on what to look forward to. I found out the average wage is $34.71 and the annual salary is $65,950, what schooling you need to participate in before starting a career as a nurse. Becoming a nurse may seem difficult, but it’s all worth it in the end.
