The religious practitioner is a person who practices religious beliefs, observances, and ceremonies. They are usually affiliated with religious organizations like churches, temples, mosques or synagogues which help them to meet the religious requirements of their faith. There are many religions in the world today; however there are major three that make up most of the religious practitioners in our society: Christianity (Catholicism), Islam (Sunni) and Judaism (Orthodox). As well as these major faiths there are other religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism that have followers but they do not represent the majority of people practicing religion today.
Introduction. There are numerous kinds of religious practitioners, including individuals who subscribe to a specific religion, such as Christians, Muslims, or Hindus. Religious practitioners’ practices are based on the deeds, thoughts, and myths of renowned people who followed their faith.

For example, Christians may examine and imitate the behaviors of prominent individuals like Jesus Christ, Abraham, or Moses. The majority of the things carried out in Christian churches are based on legends about these figures. Abraham and Moses were in the Old Testament, while Jesus Christ was in the New Testament (Nye 98).
For the Islamic religion, they have a lot to learn from Muhammad. Some of these fables have been able to attract the majority of people into sacred lives. The focus of this paper will be on two key figures who have had a major impact on most religious practitioners’ lives: Jesus Christ and Muhammad. Although there are numerous other elements in religious life that contribute to the sacred existence of many individuals, the impact of these two key characters is Jesus Christ and Muhammad will be discussed in detail.
Jesus Christ as a Christian figure. The birth of Jesus Christ, which occurred in a shed as stated in the New Testament, began with it. This was a location where animals lived and where the newborn was kept in a manger, fed by their feces. According to a prediction that said Messiah would come from Bethlehem, this was done.
Bethlehem was a tiny town within Judah at the time, and no one expected that the messiah would come from there (Nanda and Warms 203). The shepherds were recognized as being very poor, so they were the first people to realize Jesus Christ’s birth.
In the present era, it is difficult for people of religious faith to believe in a god who was born from such a modest origin and surrounded by poor persons. The followers of Christ have submitted to their humility in order to embrace poverty and hopelessness as virtues. In the modern society, identifying oneself with the poor and helpless has become both a moral lesson and a practice for Christians.
In the accounts of John 2-4, Jesus Christ is seen saving a number of people in a variety of situations. People were healed from various illnesses in both Jerusalem and Samaria, including the woman who had hemorrhaged for 12 years and Nicodemus, who was blind but now saw (Bible gateway).
The most moving narrative is about a woman from Samaria who lived in terrible circumstances and no one wanted to be associated with her because of her bad life. Despite the fact that Samaritans and Jews had a strong hatred for each other, Jesus Christ, who was a Jew, transformed the life of this Samaritan woman entirely.
People were shocked by this act, for they imagined that Jesus would ignore the Samaritan woman. Such an example has affected many religious people’s lives, who may now feel prejudiced against others because of their origins. The conduct has promoted a great deal of love among Christians. Most of the individuals were healed as a result of trust and faith in Jesus Christ. Today, most Of Christians have strong faith while asking for Jesus Christ’s help in return for favors (Bible gateway).
The history of Jesus Christ’s deeds confirms that individuals sought him out for help whenever they were in need, and this helped most people to join religious organizations as a method of approaching Jesus Christ. Such tales of Jesus Christ showing compassion to all people, regardless of their status, has served as a valuable lesson for Christian throughout history. Jesus was seen assisting royalty, helping a thief on a crucifixion, prostitutes, the wealthy and the poor. He was the saviour of everyone.
Muhammad as an Islamic figure. In Islamic thought, Muhammad was regarded as a prophet and was used by God to deliver vital information to humanity. The major message in Muhammad’s preaching focused on converting people from polytheism, particularly idol worship, to morality and the importance of material things.
Muhammad urged his people in Arabia to repent of their sins and turn to the right ways of God, the only trustworthy God. Muhammad declared that he was simply a prophet and not an angel, confirming to them that he was not a messenger from heaven. He advised individuals not to expect him to perform miracles because he did not know how God operated.
Pastor Johnson’s main responsibility was to get his message from God and convey it effectively. He was severely persecuted by idol worshippers at the outset of his ministry, feeling threatened in a variety of ways including morally and economically. It began simply as a light-hearted flippancy that later grew into a deadly serious and merciless assault (Cunningham and Kelsay 98).
The treatment was extremely harsh, with followers being stoned and thrown in prison. Muhammad did not cease proclaiming his message despite how severe the situation became; rather, he persisted until he amassed a large following and agreed to worship Allah as their only God.
Muhammad fought tirelessly for the truth of monotheism. He never gave up in the face of adversity, no matter how harsh his opponents’ conditions became. In today’s world, most Islamic religious practitioners have a strong will to worship and venerate only one God. They are devoted to defending their customs and upholding their religion. Through Muhammad’s deeds, they acquired a great deal of insight into Islam’s teachings.
It is apparent that Muhammad attempted to resist the revelation he had been given by Angel Gabriel, who was set to be God’s prophet. He tried to resist, but he couldn’t since he was overpowered by the most high (Cunningham and Kelsay 99). All of his justifications were not heard, as Allah had chosen him as His prophet long before (Cunningham and Kelsay 99). This act has helped most religious people believe in the power and existence of God the Most High.
The believers may also convert to trust Allah, the most powerful and owner of everything. There are still many people who worship idols today, but prophet Muhammad’s efforts drew them closer to God because he proved to them that God really exists and is extremely powerful above all else.
In conclusion, the majority of contemporary civilizations’ religious practices are based on the efforts, techniques, and most importantly, teachings of these vital religious figures (Nanda and Warms 251). The bible and Koran are teeming with lessons from these prophets, serving as a guide to God Almighty’s heaven and earth. Most religious followers have been able to shape their lives by integrating sacred world beliefs.
Wicca is still unfortunately, like many other pagan faiths, greatly misunderstood by the general public: due to the media’s frequently incorrect or very skewed presentation of Wicca and Wiccan believers.
People frequently confuse Wiccans with occultists and Satanists, which leads to a lot of misunderstanding and prejudice. Fortunately, Wiccans are not occultists or Satanists. Wiccans are a mix of witch and pagan who have their own distinct beliefs, customs, and rituals that distinguish them from other witches and pagans. The term “Wiccan” is also synonymous with being a witch.
However, we are not all witches; to be a witch, one must identify oneself as one. Healing, protection, divination are just a few examples of non-witchcraft magics. It’s also worth noting that whereas all Wiccans are witches, not all witches are members of the religion known as Wicca.
Being a Wiccan, in addition to being a pagan or neopagan, entails being a pagan. According to Prudence Jones from the Pagan Federation International, pagan is a word that refers to someone who follows a polytheistic or pantheist nature-worshiping religion, while neopagan is used to describe people whose religions are based on modern beliefs inspired by ancient religious practices (36).
The dictionary defines neopagan as “a person who adheres to a neopagan religion.” According to Jones, the term “neopagan” is also used to describe people who are “reconcilably [sic] Pagan,” but do not conform to any of the established traditions. However, because most pagans nowadays are actually neopagans—as Powell illustrates, modern pagans are more concerned with developing and growing their own rituals than following ancient, traditional ones (42)—most often today’s pagans are simply referred to as pagans.
According to Jones, many pagan beliefs are polytheistic, with many people believing in at least one god and a goddess. It’s also worth noting that while all Wiccans are pagans, not all pagers are Wiccans.
This research paper will examine how religious, particularly Christian, scientists and psychologists have influenced society’s perception of homosexuality. The Gay Rights Movement has been and is the longest fight for rights in history as a result of fundamentalist Christian leaders and academics attempting to show that homosexuality is a disability that must be treated with therapy.
The notion that homosexuality is a sin has been around for a long time. The bible, which remains the most widely read book in the world, clearly prohibits homosexuality in Leviticus 18:22. Christians generally take this passage literally, condemning anybody who is homosexual.
Christianity is the world’s most popular religion, and it has dominated the global scene for almost 2,000 years. Religion has always given people a “why” in life, or an explanation for why they exist, thus science became a logical alternative. Religion provides an answer to this question.
The fundamental difference between science and religion is that while science is built on the material evidence interpreted into the scientific version of creation and evolution, religion is based solely on worshipping a deity or higher being who was responsible for humanity’s origin and life in general (evolution). Religion and science, as a rule, argue with each other and attempt to disprove each other.
Despite this, however, for a long time they agreed on one thing: that homosexuality is evil. For a while, science claimed that homosexuality was either one of two things: one it didn’t exist and was a life choice made by individuals, or two it was a treatable sickness. After holding this view for many years, the scientific community eventually reversed their decision.
Today, the American Psychiatric Association (APA), an organization regarded as the authority on the human mind by many, has declared that homosexuality is not a disorder, syndrome, or any other type of mental illness and cannot be changed by the individual. They also take issue with anti-gay ministries like Exodus International’s where religious organizations will try to ‘fix’ or ‘save’ gays. The scientific faith system emerged in the early 1600s as an alternative to religion.
The Catholic Church has frequently persecuted scientists in the past, and anyone who held a viewpoint that wasn’t Creationism was condemned. Christianity became more about tradition as a result of this, while science became more about discovery and adaptation. The two have been engaged in a never-ending battle for society to adhere to one rather than the other, with the goal of forcing everyone to comply. Most people on earth are influenced by either or both science and religion.
Christianity generally condemns homosexuality, and it does so almost always. This total damnation eventually resulted in society as a whole adopting largely Christian values, as seen by the public’s attitude. Christianity is still the source of this hatred, which is sponsored by religious organizations all around the world and governments that are primarily Christian-dominated.
The Holy Roman Catholic Church was the world’s first Christian church, and because numerous denominations have separated off from it and each other, many alternative interpretations of the Bible and religious ethics exist. Christianity is the most prevalent religion in the world, with approximately 1.9 to 2 billion followers (including all branches of Christianity).
Christianity began in the year 2000 or thereabouts, which was about when the new century started. After Jesus’ crucifixion, which occurred around 40 AD according to religious historians, the New Testament was written in the Bible. As a result, Christianity was born. The Old Testament, which is also followed by Judaism, was written a long time ago before Jesus came into existence.
The book of Leviticus is where it’s at. “22 Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable” (Leviticus 18:22) is the bible passage that is used to support religious homophobia (notice how it makes no mention of gay women). Many millions of Christians look to one person for guidance on what the bible means and what they should do in order to obey it, and this individual is called the Pope. He leads the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
The current Pope is Benedict XVI. “It is a inclination toward an inherent moral wrong, therefore the desire itself should be considered as an objective abnormality… A person who engages in homosexual behavior, on the other hand, behaves immorally” (Benedict XVI)
There is no scientific evidence to suggest a biological basis for sexual orientation. However, if science were ever able to identify a link or causation with biological factors, Christians should not be startled. We believe in the catastrophic and comprehensive effects of the Fall and God’s judgment against sin… Such knowledge, if it were proven correct, would not mitigate God’s condemnation of all sorts of homosexual behavior nor imply that this was an inalienable “identity” of any person.
As I demonstrated previously, moral responsibility does not imply absolute moral choice. A soldier in combat may not have chosen to be in a position of moral distress, yet he is entirely responsible for his decisions and actions. Regardless of who they are or what their biological profile, homosexuals that commit homosexual acts are absolutely culpable for their sin.
Those who engage in same-sex acts are responsible for their decision to commit a sinful act, regardless of whether they consider themselves heterosexual or homosexual. Those who argue that they were not influenced by their sexual attraction are nevertheless fully accountable for selecting to engage in sexual behaviors prohibited by the Bible – end. ” (Mohler 2007)
This is the argument R. Albert Mohler Jr. makes for his public on a regular basis in an online newspaper he writes for. He believes that homosexuals can’t change their sexual orientation, but it’s acting on it that’s sinful. This is a popular justification for anti-gay persecution. Some people, however, disagree with this viewpoint that homosexuality is unchangeable. Many churches subscribe to the concept of therapy as a cure for homosexuality.
Some facilities employ tactics like lectures on how to become heterosexuality, shock treatments, and lobotomies. These procedures are intended to cure someone of homosexuality by demonstrating that being heterosexual is superior because it is holy and will lead one to heaven.
The presentation of these sessions goes on to explain the disadvantages of being homosexual, with the inability to have children between same-sex couples used as a justification for becoming heterosexual. Some individuals who have graduated from these programs claim that they work, and now declare themselves straight. Although Christianity strongly opposes homosexuality, there are some Christians that do not.
For example, a book called Homosexuality and the Christian Faith, which was authored by several ministers and church-associated individuals, claims that “efforts to change one’s sexual orientation generally (some say always) fail.” People who have tried homosexuality (as many heterosexuals do) can turn away from it. And homosexuals, like heterosexuals, may become celibate.
With respect to efforts to assist persons change their sexual orientation, a recent study of research found that there is “no evidence indicating that such therapies are successful.” Christian ex-gay organizations have attempted it. However, many Christian ex-gay founders have now gone out of business or abandoned the cause. The literature of these groups is filled with homosexual desires that they claim they still struggle with.
In Chapter 7 of this book, David G Myers, a social psychologist and contributor to Accepting What Cannot Be Changed, expresses his thoughts. Certainly not all Christians are homophobic; in fact, there are many who aren’t and entirely reject the policies put out by institutions such as the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Because they were innovative in their thinking, denominations like the United Church of Christ (UCC) have been labeled ‘the gay ministry.’
The United Church of Christ was the first Christian church to ordain and employ an out gay priest, as well as the first woman minister and the first black pastor. Christianity, with its 2.1 billion adherents, is largely intolerant of homosexuality and has a significant influence over society.
Science is the study of physical evidence in order to discover reasoning for life and its many elements. It’s how a lot of people try to justify the existence of consciousness and being. Science covers a wide range of disciplines, from insect research to brain research. for hundreds of years, the human brain has been a source of intrigue. Because psychology is not an exact science, pinpointing it may be difficult. People have been attempting for decades, though.
For many years, homosexuality has been considered a mental illness by numerous famous psychologists, including Sigmund Freud. Homosexuality was included in these theories for many years. Karl Heinrich Ulrichs was the first researcher to study homosexuality scientifically, starting in 1867. He believed that homosexuals and lesbians were formed during the incubation process, with the external gender being one and the internal gender being the opposite (i.e., internal woman, external man or vice versa).
