Pet Peeve Essay

Example #1

Everyone in life finds certain things that are extremely irritating. Sometimes they are things that aren’t that big of an issue to others, however, it raises your blood pressure in an instant. My biggest pet peeve is when I have to wait at the doctor’s office forever. It’s so irritating and it happens every single time I go to the doctors without fail. I think its the doctor’s responsibility to make their clients as happy as possible, which includes having them getting in and out of the office as quickly as possible.

Receptionists are usually the ones that schedule appointments in a doctor’s office. What I don’t understand is why they give you a time when you are supposed to come in when it’s not even close to the actual time that you get seen by the doctor. What’s the point in giving us a time when it’s not even correct! From as far back as I can remember, I don’t recall a single time when I went into a doctor’s office at my scheduled time and was called right in to see him.

The receptionists obviously have to have some sort of clue about how long one client will take, so they should schedule the appointments accordingly. It seems to me like they just cram people into the schedules without logically thinking about the time frame. It’s ridiculous.

When I am sick all I want to do is be at home in my bed. I can’t speak for other people; however, it’s not my idea of fun to be waiting in a doctor’s office surrounded by other sick people who are just as aggravated as I am. That’s the last thing I want to be doing while I am sick. When I come out of the doctor’s office, I am annoyed and tired, which makes me feel a lot worse than when I first came into the office. The whole point of going to the doctors is to get better, not worse. There is definitely something wrong with that.

Sitting in the waiting room also completely wastes my time. It’s not like I don’t have any other plans. I have other things to do during the day besides spending it in a doctor’s office. For example, once a year I have to get a physical at the doctors for school.

Therefore, I usually have other plans during the day since I am not sick. One time I had a 12:00 appointment at the doctors, while I also had plans at 2:00 that same day. Was that a mistake! I didn’t get out of the office until 2:30 that day so I had to cancel my plans. That upset me a lot because the waiting that I had to do ruined my day, which shouldn’t have been the case. A simple doctor’s appointment shouldn’t be the reason why I am missing out on other things in my life.

To other people, this may seem like a little deal and it may not even faze them. However, it bugs me to death! It is one of my biggest pet peeves. We shouldn’t have to wait 40-50 minutes after our scheduled appointment to see the doctor. It’s crazy! Whenever I think about this subject I can definitely say my blood pressure raises a couple of notches.

The solution would be as simple as setting scheduling appointments accordingly leaving time in between just in case one patient runs overtime. Just this one change would make such a difference, and it doesn’t take a genius to correct it. I hope one day I will be able to go into a doctor’s office and be seen by the doctor right away, without waiting forever.

Example #2

After much thought, one annoyance came to mind as my pet peeve. As much as some men thinking they are God’s gift to women and some women thinking they are the most beautiful women to ever walk the earth annoys me to no end, nosy people are the worst. They pry their way into your social life and love life coming between you and someone you are very close to. Please, someone, tell me how to get rid of them!

From the beginning of my life some nosy person, usually a woman, stuck their nose into my social life. As a teenager living in my parent?s house and having nosy neighbors or even nosy family friends made life unbearable. For me, going out with friends was like hiding from the secret service. No matter where I went I ran into or was seen by a friend of my parents. Heaven forbid if I was being a kid wreaking havoc on the small town of Iwakuni, Japan.

So the one time I went to Hiroshima with a guy friend I got spotted by one of them.? That snoopy little weasel was just itching to tell my parents they saw me with a guy. She disintegrated my social life from busy bee to a hermit crab. Sometimes I think they find joy in making me miserable. I still feel as though I have all eyes on me even though my parents are still in another country. I know they probably have spies who do not know what else to do with their life but make mine depressing.

Meddling strangers in my love life is even worse. They step in to try and give me advice on how to fix this or that. Many times they do not know the slightest thing about love. Do not get me wrong, it is not always advice-giving “pests” that step into my life. I also get those that tell me, “He isn’t your type. I know this guy who is perfect for you.? How in the world do they know what my “type” is, and who will be my perfect match? Of course, we cannot forget the famous, “Why do you like him? He is so…eeww!

Just tell me how you can like a guy like him.? From experience, I can tell you that no matter what the reason may be, it will never be good enough to satisfy this  “blood-sucking love leech”. Now, let us not forget, “Are you sure you know what you are doing?? Well, thank you for the vote of confidence. If I did not know what I was doing I certainly would not come to you for help! I wonder if these people want me to fall in love or if they just want me to be miserable for the rest of my tampered-with life.

I have dealt with such insipid creatures all my life and have had many unpleasant experiences with them. They make my life a living nightmare. I’ve slowly learned to be careful in what I say and do. I will admit that I used to be one of these meddlesome ingrates but I realized the pain suffered by all those who were just wishing to have a little fun without any horrible consequences. By horrible consequences, I am talking about the parental units. They are unpredictable.

Example #3

Everyone has a pet peeve. Everyone has something that annoys them. It could be a person, a sound, or just how someone acts. My pet peeve is when people make fun of other people. They make fun of them because they aren’t cool enough, they aren’t like them, or they even make fun of them because the person is a Christian. (I’ve been there in that situation.) This essay is about my personal pet peeve, and how it annoys me.

Some students are just so immature. They can be so mean and cruel. They don’t have to physically do anything to hurt you. They can do it verbally, over the internet, or over the phone.

This is in a lot of schools today. Well, pretty much in every school; students not accepting other students. It doesn’t matter if it’s public or private. It’s human nature to do this. We like some people and we don’t like other people. That’s normal, but it’s not a good thing to make fun of and reject others who aren’t like you or your friends. It’s better just to be nice to them than to be mean and cause trouble with them.

I’ve had a personal experience with this and that is why this is my pet peeve. I’m a Christian and that really stands out to some people. I’ve been rejected and treated differently. I’ve been considered a loner to some people. But in reality, I’m not a loner. I have true friends and I have people that accept me and are really good friends with me. The group that considered me a loner hasn’t seen me with my other friends, and that’s why they judged and treated me differently.

In this essay I have explained my pet peeve and why it annoys me. I’ve explained my personal experience on this topic. I am against making fun of people and that is why I wrote this essay on this topic.
