The oldest forms of art still in use today are architecture and sculpture. The pyramids, for example, are the world’s tallest structures and existed long before the advent of writing. Architecture utilized such materials as stone, wood, and glass. Sculpture also made use of stone and wood. Other materials used in sculpting include bronze, marble, silver, copper, wood, and clay. Carving involves removing material to create a desired figure while casting involves adding substance to get the desired form (Carroll & Eurich 1992).

Originally, architecture and sculpture were both done in a two-dimensional style. However, as art developed over the years, the two-dimensional form of labor was employed. Wood and stone were used for both construction and sculpture. Marble, copper, bronze, silver, and clay were also utilized in sculptures. To obtain the final goal item, sculptors and architects used similar methods and procedures. Carving and molding were mostly utilized in sculpting, which was also utilized to construct parts of architectural items to attain the desired forms.

The sculptures were colored using the hues of natural things they depicted, while architectural items were painted according to their function, and the messages they conveyed. The line of materials was structured to form a shape that is both architectural and sculptural in nature. When light shines on a surface it creates a variety of textures, ranging from roughness or smoothness. Materials with different textures require different materials by the artist. The majority of sculpted things have a glossy finish, whereas buildings are rough.

The value of an Art is determined by the materials used to create it, its size, and the subject it depicts. Symmetry is one of the most important features in artwork (Art Through The Ages, n.d.). This is utilized mostly in sculptures depicting animal or human figures to show how they actually look. To achieve balance so that art may have natural beauty and safety, artists created symmetrical statues and some architectural things like as Egypt’s pyramids. To provide art with natural beauty while maintaining security.

A work of art always has a theme. The sculptors of animals by previous cultures admired the extraordinary manner in which a supernatural being created the world, as evidenced by their works. Buildings that represented God’s presence were sacred sites and served as symbols of people adhering to traditional beliefs and methods for accompanying death after life.

Depictions of animals and inanimate objects are popular among kids. A painting may be used to express your feelings, thoughts, or opinions through the use of colors. Paintings provide us with a unique opportunity to view nature from an artistic perspective by allowing us to experience inner landscapes that explore our emotions and create beauty (Horovitz, 1995).

Individual, social, and physical functions are used to classify art’s activities. Religious rituals and a feeling of control over the entire world are examples of individual goals. Social roles were concerned with issues that affected everyone in society, not just oneself. It also covered political responsibilities of individuals. Functionality was represented by architecture, handicrafts, and industrial design in ancient times. Artists had a significant role in ancient civilizations. They served the public’s interests, appreciated nature, and chronicled history (Parker, 2003).

Art is a broad term that includes everything from paintings to sculptures, buildings to design, and even digital artwork. Everyone may appreciate and be astonished by art, which makes it difficult to classify. Art appreciation, on the other hand, is the examination and analysis of the works we are exposed to.

It’s a very subjective issue, depending on one’s personal preferences and favorites. It may also be done based on a number of criteria, such as the art’s design and mastery displayed in it. Art appreciation also entails a deeper examination of the work’s context and historical significance, as well as its origins. Art is ever-changing and creative. The artist’s ultimate goal is for it to address the viewer on a personal level, allowing him or her to interpret it in a variety of ways. Art aims to personally engage every person who sees it by opening up the subconscious stream of thoughts.

Art appreciation is useful for a variety of reasons. It is an excellent method to learn more about the work’s backstory and when it was created. Artists frequently comment on issues that they confront, as well as societal concerns. By comprehending and putting ourselves in the artist’s mindset, we may better understand how society worked at the time compared to now. We can sympathize with and connect with their problems on a personal level by empathizing and relating to their issues.

Art is intended to stimulate thought and discussion among its viewers. We delve into our own experiences and nostalgia while reflecting on a work of art, therefore something different means something else to everyone who sees it. Art appreciation skills include attentive listening to various points of view and perspectives as well as interpretations of the work, which encourages serious conversation and the acceptance that there are alternative ways to look at everything.

For many individuals, art is intended to communicate or convey sentiments that they are unable to express or transmit. It evokes feelings of pleasure, sadness, fury, and agony through its visual form. That is why art appreciation is so significant in completing the work by adding that one final element: our perception. As it varies for each individual around it, our view gives life to the work.

Art appreciation and analysis are crucial because they help us comprehend the work in terms of how it attracts and what it means to each individual. It explores the history and backstory of the art as well as the artists’ lives. It allows for a critical evaluation of a piece, based on design, mastery, and techniques. Most importantly, however, art appreciation encourages thinking and analysis by stimulating people to look beyond what appears to be true.

The book’s title is The Magic of Color: Mastering the Art of Painting with Watercolors. It was written by Narendra Desirazu, Director of Jennard Galleries, a gallery that offers art appreciation classes for children.

How can you put all of this new information to use? What have I learned so far in my “Art Appreciation” class? How about a wealth of knowledge on the basics of visual art, as well as the artist’s works and perspectives on art. Line, shape, form, volume, mass, value, space, color, time and motion are some of the elements I discovered.

The principles are contrast, variety, balance, scale, proportion, emphasis, focal point, pattern, rhythm, and content. The first thing I had to figure out was what makes art. There isn’t a easy answer for this question. Art is the creative vision or interpretation of an art piece by an artist. A composition is the artist’s own creation (painting, sculpture, or photograph).

The color red, for example, is linked to a temperature in the physical mind. The color blue might spring to mind when we are melancholy, and the color red may come to our minds if we are heated. We may be influenced by a hue while looking at it; for instance, we might form an opinion about it. Our views on colors can be affected by what we have experienced or been exposed to. If you were to paint the sun, it would most likely be in the yellowish tone. As a result, you’d perceive yellow as a warm color since the sun is hot.

I’m not quite sure what I’m looking at, but I have a newfound respect for the hard work that goes into making an artwork. Each artist utilizes certain basic components and principles in his or her composition. In most cases, the color element will be utilized by artists. Because artists use intriguing color palettes in their work, I am captivated by non-representational abstract art. Even if I don’t comprehend the abstract art, the colors displayed may stimulate my emotions or offer serenity and peace.

I’m captivated by the colors in an abstract work. I’m not sure how or why the artist came up with such color pairings. As you can see, everyone’s taste in color is different. You might hear others say things like as , , or . I’ve learned that each person has his or her own way of looking at colors. It’s influenced by culture, past experiences, personality, and so on. Despite the fact that line, shape, form, volume, mass, value, space, color, time, motion and the principle of art are essential elements of painting.

This lesson will cover the many forms of art, as well as their components and art design principles that enhance our lives. At the conclusion of the session, you will be able to: 1. describe the many forms of art; 2. explain how art works; and 3. evaluate the purposes behind your own creative efforts.

There are various forms of expression that influence our sentiments and emotions. Art may be defined as a means for us to communicate our ideas, feelings, and sentiments to the world. It’s through art that we can express our creativity and sensitive feelings to other people indirectly but deeply felt. The artist or the doer of the art via his work tells a story and transmits a meaning with another person indirectly but intensely feltly. Art has an ability to move our soul and enlighten our spirits, as witnessed by artworks we see elsewhere.

Art has played an important role in the history of many civilizations. There are several types of art. We’ll look at these two categories: visual art and performing art in this session. Paintings, sculptures, literature, calligraphy, photography, and architecture are all forms of visual art. Fine art, commercial art, and applied art are examples of categories for artistic work. Visual arts is a type of artwork in which the artist uses any instrument to express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

They’re the things we may observe. The following are some of the categories into which visual arts can be divided: Painting – It is a representation of any shape or item by hand, usually on canvas. Still life, landscapes, seascapes, abstract art and pop art are some of the common painting genres. Sculpture – Sculptures can be carved or chiselled in two ways and fall under the category of visual art.

Calligraphy is the art of making letters appear appealing when written. It’s a form of visual culture with significant commercial worth and is highly sought after. Photography is the practice of capturing an image on photographic film in such a manner that it generates an impression. The way light is utilized to capture an image varies from photographer to photographer.

Dancers, musicians, actors, and theatres are examples of performers that engage in these. DANCE – It is a non-verbal communication and movement of the body with music that is lovely and harmonic and expresses the artist’s ideas, feelings, and emotions. SINGING – This is an art of making sound using the voice in a rhythmic manner that is pleasant to the ear. Often it is accompanied by musical instruments.

Applied Art Applied art, sometimes referred to as functional art, is part of visual arts that has practical application and usefulness. Let us look at the many kinds of applied art available.

Architecture is a branch of applied art that involves the design and construction of structures. Fashion Design – The art of designing attractive as well as functional clothes is known as fashion design. It includes working with a variety of textiles and patterns, which are then used to create clothing. Excellent fashion designs are characterized by their inventiveness and precision. Jewelry Design – Jewelry design is also another kind of artwork, which entails the creation of complicated jewelry pieces from metals, wood, or plastic.

Wood Crafts – A piece of art that is both beautiful to look at and useful is referred to as wood crafts. Woodworking is an example of this. 3 Manual Title MODULE OF INSTRUCTION INTERIOR DESIGN – The process of planning the design, layout, and style of a building space, whether residential or commercial, is known as interior design. Home furnishings are examples of this. Fine Art Esaak(Arthistory About Com) said,”Art knows no limits, and different art styles are always available to us when we want to appeal to our senses.”

Fine arts are known as fine arts due to their high standards. Because only the “fine” people, those who did not engage in manual labor, studied them, they were termed fine arts. Fine art is defined as the creation of things that are attractive using imagination and taste and applied to the production of beauty such as painting, sculpture, music, theater , and other similar activities. It’s difficult for us to tell the difference between genres of art since there is some overlap.

Some people consider painting to be visual art, while others characterize it as “fine” art. It is also classified as commercial art since it is produced for the express purpose of increasing sales and revenue. However, in order for us to have a shared understanding about the arts, we should think of them as visual or performing arts rather than useful and effective works. Functions of Art Every work of art has a set of purposes associated with it. To the average person, art may not appear to have much utility. He finds artistic value in something if it is beneficial and helps fulfill its intended purpose.

Obviously, architecture is an art that is immediately useful due to the buildings’ practicality. Here, architecture allows the artist to convey his sense of beauty. Functionality is obvious in a structure’s design; it protects people from harm by providing them with shelter. Music is utilized for entertainment, comfort, worshiping the gods, and religious ceremonies. The arts, like sculpture and painting, are utilized to describe and commemorate events as well as depict people. Arts and crafts such as jewelry, lamps, weapons, tools, ceramics, glassware, electronics, and other items are produced for particular reasons.
