Essay About Doctor

Example #1

A doctor is someone who can help someone else in need. There are many types of doctors, ranging from general pediatricians to specialists. They are respected people and are looked to when something is wrong. Everyone needs a doctor at some point, so doctors are very much in demand. I am interested in this career because I like to help people. Also, it pays well so I can live off the salary. Another reason is that many of my relatives are doctors, nurses, or dentists. Even though school and training are very hard, it pays off at the end, when someone can make a difference in someone’s life. I am not sure if I would like to be a pediatrician or a specialist. Specialists probably earn more money, but do not do as much, and are required to learn more. I do not think I will want to be a surgeon, because cutting people open and taking things out does not seem very appealing.

To become a doctor, one must endure a lot of training and education. In college, one must study courses to prepare for medicine, such as biology, chemistry, and some advanced mathematics. It generally takes seven to eight years to finish his education. For the first four years, one would take pre-med classes. Then it’s on to medical school, where for four years one learns about the area of medicine one chooses. After medical school, about one year of internship is needed. Then he becomes a resident and practice medicine under the supervision of a senior doctor. Altogether, it is about 11 years before one actually becomes an independent doctor. Doctors will always be needed. Because of this, and because of the population growth, doctors will always be in demand and the profession will continue to grow. This way, a doctor will be unemployed less and will be more. A doctor can earn from $60,000 to $700,000.

Example #2

There I was, sitting on the bus headed back to my hostel, staring out at the Tyrrhenian Sea in Mondello, Sicily. When I heard, “can I get some help over here!” I drifted back to reality and focused on the voice asking for help. A crowded bus and 100°F weather is not an ideal setting. A crowd formed at the front of the bus to tend to a woman who had passed out from the heat and dehydration. The lady was French and everyone else only spoke Italian. I decided to step in and ask, “Do you speak English?” “Yes,” she replied. I gave her my water, poured cold water on a towel to place on her forehead, gave her my protein bar, and asked some basic questions. Soon she was feeling better, her color was back to normal, and she seemed good to go.

I worked as a research assistant on a research project on Alzheimer’s disease. The project included research on the development of a potential diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. This project taught me how to truly challenge myself, to continually look for new strategies, and to never give up. It also taught me the complexity of the disease and how research in the medical field continues to further the progression of healthcare. After graduating from college, I began working as a rehab aide at Barton Physical Therapy. This experience showed me how important it was to relate to the patients.

It also strengthened my passion for becoming not just a medical professional but being the person who starts the healing process as the attending physician. I grew up playing sports and was in and out of physical therapy from various injuries. It was easy for me to relate to these patients that were hurt because I had been in their position before. Leah was a patient that really showed me how much I loved being around medicine and helping others, especially children. She was 12 years old and a phenomenal soccer player. She hated being in physical therapy, and I could relate to that because all you want to do at that age is run around and have fun. When I first met her after her foot surgery, I knew that I needed to make this experience fun so the pain didn’t seem so bad.

Example #3

A doctor is a medical practitioner who conducts health check-ups and diagnoses any issues related to a person’s mental or physical health. Doctors are an integral part of society. Doctors specialize in different fields to treat and cure different kinds of health problems. The field of medical science is vast and it takes years of education and rigorous training to get into this profession. On joining the profession a doctor takes an Oath to their integrity and does not involve in any kind of misbehavior, illegal activities with their patients, or with the society as a whole. A doctor is a savior and s/he is the only hope for his/her patients. Society must respect the doctors for their services; on the other hand, doctors also must not unnecessarily try to exploit their patients for monetary gains.

Doctors are considered to be one of the most important parts of society. Having a hospital, nursing home or a doctor’s clinic nearby is one of the first things one sees while looking for a house. This is because having medical help nearby gives a sense of security. Doctors specialize in various fields to provide specialized treatments to the patients. Some of these include anesthesiologist, cardiologist, allergist, gynecologist, immunologist, neonatologist, oncologist, radiologist, obstetrician, physiologist, and pediatrician. Most people visit general physicians when faced with any medical issue. These doctors examine the patients and prescribe them medicine and also refer them to specialist doctors if they need it.

While people should trust doctors with life, a lot of mistrust is being spread off late. Doctors these days don’t carry out practice with the aim to cure the patients but to make money. People are suggested to get several tests done even if they visit for a simple medical problem. The government hospitals and clinics claim to provide medical services free of cost however there is a lot of corruption at these places as well. Though India has a number of talented doctors however the healthcare sector here is not that good. Many qualified doctors these days are flying abroad to seek better opportunities. Aspiring doctors are also going abroad to study medicine and settle there.

Example #4

“There is no such noble profession as a doctor’s profession,” said my mother, when I was a kid. Being born in a small town, I saw my family members suffer without advanced healthcare facilities and this incident inspired me to choose a medical professional as there is no greater service than providing healthcare to the sick. I decided to pursue medicine as my career and my dream came true when I was ranked among the top performers in the state medical entrance exam and was admitted to the most prestigious medical schools in my state. Being the first doctor of my family, everybody has high hopes of me. Being the first doctor/medical student in my family, everyone has high expectations of me. In high school, this game developed into my passion for Biology. I started spending more time reading about human biology and I decided to pursue a career in medicine.

My dream came true when I was ranked among the top performers in the state medical entrance exam and was admitted into one of the most prestigious medical schools in my state. When I was in the second year of medical school, my aunt became very sick. She was cachectic and icteric with a very high bilirubin level. After visiting multiple doctors, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was given chemotherapy and after two courses, sadly, she couldn’t survive the side effects. Initially, she had symptoms of epigastric pain and I was astounded by the fact that a fatal disease can present with minor symptoms initially. I realized the importance of understanding the disease course and pathology to make an accurate diagnosis. This incident deeply impacted me and it is there I developed a keen interest in Internal Medicine.

To gain exposure and get acquainted with the US medical system, I completed two months of clinical rotation in Mt. Sinai Hospital, NY working in the department of Cardiology and Infectious Diseases. Working closely with the fellows, helped me understand the rationale of choosing certain treatment protocols over others. I started referring to scientific articles for each case and in no time I realized my interest in research and to pursue this, I did two months of research elective at Johns Hopkins University in the Centre for Clinical Global Health Education working with Dr. Amita Gupta and her team on (a) residual respiratory impairment following Pulmonary Tuberculosis; and (b) prevalence of antimicrobial resistance. Being interested in research, during my fourth year, I did research on contraceptive knowledge in females of reproductive age group and prevalence of malnutrition in primary school children and I presented a poster of these findings at the Medical Student’s International Conference 2013 and publication appeared in New Indian Journal of Surgery.

Example #5

Doctors have been given a high status in our society. The medical profession is considered to be one of the noblest professions. It is also a profession that helps earn lucrative income. Doctors are essential for any society. They are considered to be life saviors. In our routine life, we often encounter health issues that are beyond our comprehension. We require help from a doctor to understand the problem and also to get it cured. The condition may get worse without medical intervention. Doctors are thus considered to be life saviors. They spend numerous years of their lives studying medical science. Once they gain theoretical and practical knowledge about this field, they are given thorough training to handle the profession they are aiming to dive into. The medical profession has evolved over the centuries and is still evolving. Medicines and treatments for various diseases and illnesses that were not available earlier have now been developed.

Medical technology has also enhanced over time. If we have good doctors and medical facilities in our vicinity it offers a sense of relief as we know we have instant help at hand. Several students aspire to take to the medical profession and become a doctor. The first step towards this is to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) that is conducted each year to select students for MBBS and BDS courses in government and private medical institutes across the country. It is essential to have physics, chemistry, and biology as core subjects during your 11th and 12th standard if you want to appear in this entrance test. A minimum percentage criterion is also set. Those selected in this test are supposed to qualify in the counseling and interview round to grab a seat. While people trust their lives with doctors, certain cases in the past have shaken their faith. It is essential for doctors to stay true to their profession.

Example #6

Since I was young, my mother kept motivating and encouraging me to become a doctor. This was her dream. By the time, this dream was not only my mother’s dream, it became my dream too. Since then, medicine has become my only passion and I cannot imagine myself doing any other field. Everything related to medicine interests me. The deep curiosity about the human body increases my interest in studying it. How doctors treat people and have a greater understanding of illnesses and their causes fascinates me to be part of this remarkable medical society. Being a doctor is something which I highly appreciate. This profession is globally recognized and working in this career offers me the chance to help people directly and witness their smiles. I will also be widely needed in the job market. Furthermore, my career will be more stable, safer, and socially appreciated.

Studying medicine is a heavy-duty that a person could handle. I think that I have the required skills and abilities which qualify me to become a successful student and a future doctor. From an academic approach, in my high school studies, I got the highest grades in my school. Chemistry and Biology are the most important subjects in medicine and my grades in these subjects are 99% and 97% respectively. Communication and leadership skills are significant in every doctor’s attitude. I was the representative of my class in the last year and project leader. My friends prefer to talk to me about their problems because I am a good listener. I always give them the advice to improve and get over their problems. Furthermore, I am considerably empathetic and passionate about helping others. I participated in many awareness campaigns which included informing elderly people how to avoid many diseases such as diabetes.

It also included spreading awareness about the risks of several traditional medicine methods. I am entirely flexible in my life, I can adapt to sudden changes that may occur. In my free time, I love to play football. I regularly exercise and workout at the gym. I am aware of keeping my body healthy and fit. Spending time with friends and family is a huge deal for me and I really enjoy sitting with them. I also watch series and movies. My Favorite genre is horror. I attended an English course in Cambridge for seven months and got 7 in IELTS. The United Kingdom was my choice because its medicine course is one of the top courses worldwide. It is also diverse in cultures and respects each and every nationality and religion. It also has a great history of affording studies to international students from all over the planet. In the future, I want to graduate with high grades from the university. After graduating, I aim to be a successful doctor with a great reputation. Furthermore, opening my own clinic would be one of my goals that I would really like to achieve.

Example #7

Indicate what you think you will contribute after your years of higher education study, what might affect you most in your studies, how growing up in Southern Maryland shaped the person you hope to become, who your influences were/are, and how your experiences to date have shaped you and where that might lead you in the future. Personally, I believe that the choices a person makes are what shapes who they are. Growing up in Southern Maryland has provided me with many choices that have given me the opportunity to shape the person that I hope to become. It has also given me the privilege of experiencing things and meeting people that I may not have if I had grown up in a different place. In Southern Maryland, the diversity of people really gives you the opportunity to choose who you want to be. There are those that are religious – i.e. my family – and then you go to school and you meet people who challenge the values, and beliefs that you’ve been taught your whole life.

The experiences that I have had with those who challenge what I believe have been the most enlightening experiences. I have learned to stand up for what I believe is right, even if I have to go against my peers. Southern Maryland has also provided me with the things and people that have influenced me up until this moment. My two major influences are music and my older brother, Robbert. Music has been a big part of my life ever since I started playing guitar at the age of eight. Music has taught me how and where to channel all of my feelings. It has also taught me how important it is to be who you are and to not change yourself. Everyone has a different taste in music, just like everyone has their own personality and their own life goals.

My brother has influenced my life in a different aspect. He has become someone that I look up to more than anyone else. I’ve seen him struggle with problems in his life, but no matter what happens he never gives up. A perfect example is when he was denied commission into the air force. He spent all his life and school focused on making it into the Air Force and his senior year of college he was told that he couldn’t fulfill his dreams. The amazing this was how he handled it. Instead of being angry or depressed, he decided to look at it as if it happened for a reason. Robbert has taught me how to deal with things that have not gone the way that you wanted them to. He taught me that things happen – or don’t happen – for a reason, and to find a way to make it into a good thing.

All of these things have helped shaped who I am today and have helped teach me things that will help me when I finally get to where I want to be in life. And where I want to be is in a hospital, helping people as much as I can. My plan is to eventually become an Emergency Room doctor after the schooling that I need. For a while, I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do with my life but I did know that I wanted to help people. I went back and forth between medicine and crime, but I finally came to the decision of ER doctor. This way I experience the excitement that was drawing me to solve crimes mixed with saving people’s lives first hand. I know there may be disappointments in my journey – which is where my brother’s lessons come in. And I will have to make hard decisions and stick to my gut no matter what people say – which is where my experiences come into play. Although nothing is certain, I know that the experiences and the people that have influenced who I am will lead me in the right direction – even if it doesn’t turn out exactly how I want to.

Example #8 – interesting ideas

Doctor Who Essay Help? So I have to write an essay about something interesting to me. Obviously, by the title, you can tell what I chose. The basic prompt is to pick a topic that is interesting to me and why I find it so interesting and if someone didn’t know anything about this topic, how can my essay convince them this interesting thing to me should also be interesting to them. It has to be no more than 15 sentences. I need a reason as to why Doctor Who is so great. I need a broad topic but now too broad. I feel like using the word ‘entertaining’ is too bland or boring. I need something better. Thanks!

Answer. A few things I like about Doctor Who:

  • Obviously, it’s quite interesting that it’s over 50 years old so has stood the test of time well
  • The lore of the show is infinitely expanded in other media (e.g. the Doctor being loomed into existence as Timelords are infertile because automated sterilization was initiated by the Sisterhood of Karn (Lungbarrow: Novel/Zagreus: Audio), the Doctor is suspected of being “The Other” alongside Rassilon and Omega to have founded Timelord society (Cartmel Masterplan), other media is incorporated into the DW universe (e.g. Iris Wildthyme, Bernice Summerfield, H.P. Lovecraft, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.))
  • Because of this incorporation of other media, it opens up so many possibilities for storytelling, which unfortunately the TV series isn’t really delving into the massive pot of possibility but the audios are doing it with great success.
  • The show has no real limitations and is even allowed to contradict itself (as it does at times) as you can explain disparities away with time travel or alternate universes, which just opens up storytelling possibilities even more!
  • The show can be constantly reinvented as it isn’t even limited by the characters themselves, even the main character can change in his judgments and the way he resolves problems as he regenerates (e.g. 5th Doctor was generally passive, while 7th Doctor was fiendish and calculating).

I just think they’ve hit on something rather excellent for a tv series and could be constantly re-made to suit the newer generation meaning it could still be going another 50 years from now. You could say in that sense, the show transcends time itself as it will never be considered out-dated as it will simply be re-molded for the current generation while retaining the essence of itself.

What makes Doctor Who a successful show?

Answer. I’d have to say because it’s enthralling to see someone traveling in time to potential futures and pasts. Also because the ideas are original (I think) and the fact that a guy with a sonic screwdriver can beat foes with a lot of technology and power with just his know-how.

Have an essay about a doctor. Any ideas what to include? The only ideas I have in mind are the disadvantages and advantages. Don’t know anything else. Thanks.

Answer. Well, you could do the disadvantages and advantages but also: their intelligence, work hours, schooling needed, costs to hold a doctrine degree, costs in equipment/clothes, communication skills, attitudes, listening skills, being concerned, helpful, etc.

Doctor Who!!?

Answer. I answered a question like this earlier. So this is basically going to be a cut and paste sort of thing. Doctor Who is a British sci-fi show. It started out in the 1960s with its main character being the Doctor, an alien from the planet of Gallifrey, a Time Lord that is able to travel in a Blue Police Box, a trademark of the show, as that is his time machine, it ended up being stuck that way after the camouflage unit that usually changes the device to blend in with the historic time burnt out. Over a period of time, the Doctor basically became fond of that format and never fixed it.

Anyway, as the show progressed, and the actor who played the Doctor decided to quit, the Doctor regenerates and changes, and a new actor steps in and takes his place, but still remains as the Doctor. The Doctor and his ‘companions’ travel throughout Time and Space and have many adventures together. It’s quite a fun show and quite a soap opera-ish. Classic Who goes all the way from the 1960s to the 1980s and then the show went off the air, and then came back in 1996 with its own movie in America on Fox networks, which was supposed to resurrect the show, but it never took off. Then finally in 2005, Russel T. Davies revived the show and brought it back. It’s probably one of the longest-running science fiction shows that has ever been on. The Doctor is currently in his 10th incarnation after regenerating from his 9th form.
