Do you like surprises? Explain why or why not
A fleur of mystery, which usually surrounds surprises, seems very attractive to some people, but absolutely unacceptable for others. As for me, a component of uncertainty and unexpectedness makes my life brighter and more interesting, so I like surprises. But it is important to note that I like only pleasant surprises – for example, interesting presents or performances, created in the atmosphere of secrecy.
In Greek mythology, human life is controlled by three goddesses, Kloto, Lakhesis and Athropos: the first woman weaves a thread of life, the second ‘divine force’ decides how long this thread should be for each newborn, and Athropos cuts this thread at an appropriate time. This means, human destiny has been decided before an individual comes into this world, and it is impossible to change anything. On the other hand, ancient Romans created a powerful rival for destiny, which is a surprise. Roman goddess of fate, Fortuna, is careless and often changes her mind, and might produce either positive or negative surprises. Surprise thus has a symbolic meaning, because it becomes a remedy against prearranged and planned life. On a daily aspect, surprises are really entertaining and exciting, because they help us plunge into the atmosphere of festivity and enjoyment.

In my opinion, surprises also become a sign, a hallmark of holidays and celebrations, as they derived from ancient carnivals, where people were entitled to behave extraordinarily or even weirdly (as they wished), i.e. to hide under the mask from all daily duties. This understanding of surprise has remained in human consciousness (including my own), and I like to make surprises as well as to accept them, since they allow to express oneself and to color this reality with the brightest tints and tons – at least, temporarily.
Consequently, I like surprises because they create a specific and stable frame of mind and help me express myself and understand others’ expressions.
